The first trek with a new set of caravans- was zeroed in to Kothaligad fort. Kothaligad is a fort at a height of about 3100 feet. The reason for selection of this fort was reviews given at various sites about the difficulty level, which called this as Easy one.
As planned we caught up the 6.16 Karjat fast from various places and started our journey to kothaligad from Neral. We bargained for a Tum-tum rickshaw and agreed at a price of 500 for 11 people inside one rick.
It was a memorable journey of about more than an hour after which we reached the Ambivali village.
Further was a trek of hour and half till the base village of peth.
After ordering for food at Peth village we continued our trek to the top of the fort. This trek was a challenge as we had to find our way towards the top in middle of dense forest. With help of villagers and other trekkers we went ahead.
And the Caravan!!

Kothaligad from a distance |
After ordering for food at Peth village we continued our trek to the top of the fort. This trek was a challenge as we had to find our way towards the top in middle of dense forest. With help of villagers and other trekkers we went ahead.
View at the top of mountain was heavenly. On the top you will find water cisterns, cannons and a cave to accommodate about 30 - 40 people. After waiting for about an hour there, we started our descend to Peth village.
At Peth we had our veg lunch and further walked towards Ambivali.
And the Caravan!!
